Pipe Ramming

Pipe Ramming (or Air Hammering) is a service that is used in conjunction with directional drilling to drill through cobble and other difficult to penetrate substrates.

We also have extensive experience placing conductor barrels for drill rigs using air hammering.

We are currently able to install pipes up to 42″ under the right conditions.

The short answer is yes, with the right ground conditions. We’d need to do soil and geotechnical site digs to confirm soil structure, but can usually accommodate air hammering on grade. If air hammering on grade we use an Akkerman Guided Boring Machine

Yes, we have experience installing conductor barrels using our pipe ramming equipment.

We can pipe ram through all soil conditions except for solid rock. Any loose, unstable soil conditions such as gravel, sand, wet flowing material are suitable for air hammering.

Another application for pipe ramming is inserting steel pipe inside of old culverts.

Costs vary widely depending on distance, pipe diameter and soil conditions. Exact pricing is currently by quote only. Please contact us for a free quote!
